Chair's Message
Our last speaker, Dr. John D. Kaminski, could have rightly entitled
his highly informative and entertaining talk: ``Everything you ever
hoped to discover, because most of his papers were lost, captured,
burned or otherwise destroyed, about a lost giant of the Revolution,
George Clinton,'' but he didn't. If you want to really discover the
true American hero you may just have to read the good professor's
book, George Clinton: Yeoman Politician of the New
Republic. I know that I put it on my shelf.
Sam Puner
As Chairman, I want to add my condolences to the family of one of the
Round Table's founders, as well as a most loyal and dedicated member,
Sam Puner. We are especially grateful to Sam for his generous bequest
of $5000 to the Round Table. It is not merely a cliche to say how
much he has meant to our organization and how much we will miss him.
Gifts
It is a topic we rarely discuss, but the death this summer of founding
member, Sam Puner, focused our attention on a subject I feel is very
important and not inappropriate to mention. Sam was extremely
generous and thoughtful in remembering the Round Table for a gift in
his will. I would ask all members if they too would consider
including the Round Table. A bequest of money or books, in
any amount, obviously would mean a great deal to us and would
go a long way in helping us continue our long tradition of outstanding
speakers and programs.
